Deco-Poz Decorative Pozzolan Resurfacing System is a special high performance cementious blend of white portland cement, 90-grit sand, and a custom engineered recycled white pozzolanic mineral additive that is combined with a proprietary non-hazardous polymer. This unique eco friendly primerless resurfacing system bonds to virtually any substrate delivering a durable new cementitious surface that is suitable for both interior or exterior decorative finishes.

Unlike silica fume, coal fly ash, furnace slag and other by-products, our pozzolans are free of iron, manganese, and other undesirable color-inducing impurities making Deco-Poz the preferred decorative resurfacer. The white color neutral substrate enables more true and brilliant colors to come to life. The unlimited and flexible uses provides more ways to add beautiful decorative design elements to your project.

Pozzolans are widely used in cement and concrete technology to increase concrete strength, density, and resistance to chemical attack as well as control efflorescence. Our pozzolan technology meets technical requirements of ASTM C618 for use as supplementary cementious materials in concrete and exceeds the requirements of ASTM C1157 Standard Performance Specification for Hydraulic Cement and also meets the accelerated pozzolanic activity index, ASR control and sulfate resistance requirements of ASTM C1240 for silica fume.

Concrete is a superior material for building sustainable structures. It is durable, uses local materials, has high heat reflectivity (especially white concrete), and uses thermal mass to help energy efficiency. In the LEED-NC protocol, concrete can contribute in whole or in part to 25 of the total 69 points available for LEED certification. 26 points are the minimum required. DECO-POZ POZZOLANS make concrete greener. At 1,000 tons of cement per year, at a nominal 25% replacement level, the operation will purchase 250 tons of the recycled DECO-POZ POZZOLANS to replace 250 tons of manufactured cement powder. This will have the following reduced impact on the environment:

• Reduce CO2 emissions by 250 tons per year, equivalent to taking 41 midsized cars driving 12,000 miles per year off the road permanently.
• Create landfill space now occupied by DECO-POZ POZZOLANS for 250 tons garbage, enough space for 312 households generating 1,600 pounds landfill waste each.
• Conserve 375 tons of limestone, sand, gypsum, and clay being mined to manufacture the 250 tons of cement you have removed from your mix design.
• Save 875-million Btu’s per year needed to make the cement, enough to provide heat and electricity for nine full sized homes for a year.
• The white color of DECO-POZ POZZOLANS contributes to the wider use of sustainable and durable white concrete with high reflectivity for higher energy efficiency, as well as improved safety.
• The use of DECO-POZ RESURFACING SYSTEM allows restoration and reuse of existing building materials rather than demolition and disposal into our landfills.

Application Info

Obtain full installation guide from Sarasota Green Marketplace. Apply by hopper sprayer, squeegee, and/or trowel. Full Kit Mixture: Mix (1) gallon Deco-Poz Polymer with (1) gallon clean water in an empty 5 gallon pail. Mix well with mixing blade. Then, gradually pour the Deco-Poz Mix into the Polymer while mixing. Mix
until all clumps are dispersed and the desired consistency has been reached. Depending on environmental conditions, you may have to lessen or add water to achieve the desired consistency. Partial Kit Mixture: Mix (1) part Deco-Poz Polymer with (1) part clean water in an empty 5 gallon pail. Mix well with a mixing blade. Then gradually pour the Deco-Poz Mix into the Polymer until the desired consistency is reached, which is usually about 3-5 parts mix in volume.

Green Info

Our DECO-POZ POZZOLANS are derived from a post-industrial stream of by-product reinforcement fiberglass that is ground into a white powder finer than 325 mesh. DECO-POZ POZZOLAN “feedstocks” are unique compared to 95% of recycled glass in that the alkali content (Na2O + K2O) of DECO-POZ POZZOLANS is about 15-times lower than post-consumer sources of glass such as windows and bottles. DECO-POZ POZZOLAN powders are designed to replace about 25% of the cement powders used to make concrete. The DECO-POZ POZZOLANS can then be treated as another form of cement powder.

DECO-POZ WHITE POZZOLANS contain less than 1/15th of the alkalis found in post-consumer glass; they contain no sulfides or carbon; and they are as white as white cement. Since DECO-POZ POZZOLANS has about the same water demand as cement powders, adding DECO-POZ POZZOLANS to the mix design is quite seamless.
