What does FSC mean?
The only forest certification system that enjoys the support of environmental groups worldwide is that of the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), which is independent, non-profit, and has a mechanism for tracking wood from the forest to the consumer. The U.S. Green Building Council only recognizes FSC certification as evidence of the sustainability of a wood product. If you want verification that the wood you are purchasing came from a truly well-managed forest, demand FSC-certified material, and demand proper documentation.

EcoTimber Engineered FSC Certified Wood Floors:
EcoTimber® engineered flooring has all the benefits of laminated flooring—including superior stability and easy installation—and the look of solid wood. In engineered flooring, a surface layer of high-quality hardwood is bonded to two wood sub-layers. Cross-ply construction makes the product more stable than solid wood. Our wear layers are among the thickest on the market: 3.6mm (just over .14"), allowing many more sandings than the typical engineered floor's 1/10-inch "veneer" layer. EcoTimber engineered flooring can be nailed down like solid flooring, glued directly to concrete, or "floated" (gluing the planks to each other and not to the subfloor). Because they are prefinished, these products do not have to be sanded and finished on the jobsite, and are easy and inexpensive to install. Our engineered floors feature a state-of-the-art UV-cured aluminum oxide finish that is among the most durable available, making our product ideal for demanding commercial as well as residential applications.
EcoTimber Engineered Hand-scraped FSC Certified Wood Floors:
EcoTimber® Hand-scraped flooring is genuinely scraped by hand -- not "distressed" by machinery. Five-inch widths provide a truly rustic feel and an old-world appearance. Scratches and dings will not stand out as they sometimes do with smooth-surface flooring. The wood in these floors is 100% FSC Certified from well-managed forests, and made with formaldehyde-free, zero-VOC adhesives.
EcoTimber Solid Reclaimed/Forest Salvage Wood Floors:
EcoTimber® reclaimed wood flooring is remilled from tight-grained, old-growth lumber from deconstructed buildings (ranging from former military bases to Kentucky tobacco barns) or salvaged from waterways or urban areas. Nail holes, streaking, and other character marks are part of the rustic appeal of this unique resource. Forest Salvage flooring is cut from standing dead or wind-fallen trees.
EcoTimber Exotic FSC Certified Wood Floors:
EcoTimber® exotic hardwoods are exceptionally beautiful and are off the charts in terms of hardness and durability. Because they are FSC-certified, using them is key to supporting sustainable forestry initiatives in the tropics where forests are rapidly being cleared for farming. These come in solid and engineered.
